14 Merkurs available before scrap!

Post by Merkur uncle. »

Hi All,

My uncle was/is a big Merkur fan and had several he ran and a bunch he bought to make run or for parts. Unfortunately, he had some health issues and they have been sitting for several years.

He has been given some help by the county, meaning he must get them on their way or face fines so I'd like to help him get them to people that will use the parts or make them run before they start heading in for scrap.

Is there anyone in Minnesota or surrounding states that might want to purchase these vehicles before they are gone, I'm sure he would be open to reasonable offers. The vehicles are a bit SW of the Brainerd Mn area.

Feel free to message me with anyone's info I should connect with or if you may have some interest.

Thanks,
Kyle

Hi All,

My uncle is/was a big Merkur fan, drove several and bought a bunch more to make run and for parts.

Unfortunately he was ill and they've sat now for several years and the county is helping him get them moving or face some fines.

I'd love to see the cars get sold to folks that love them as much as he did or at least get access to the parts before they get scrapped or crushed.

These vehicles are SW of Brainerd in Minnesota, anyone in this area interested or know of anyone I can reach out to.

I cam provide some pics if requested.

Thanks,
Kyle

Pictures are going to help determine what’s good to keep and what’s just as well go to scrap. Lived in Fargo for 24 years…but no longer, unfortunately.

Thanks all,

I tried to post pictures off my phone but had a few challenges...

We met I guy from England that lives in the twin cities, has a deep love for the merkurs (restored one and sent back)and helped my uncle go thru them. Unfortunately most have sat to long and are not good candidates for rebuild(frames and roof leaks) but he will assist in the salvage of parts that will help keep yours and his on the road and should help him get back in the good graces of local zoning :D .
