Is your guarantee to win from post #1 still in effect ???
Why not? I'm up for a challenge!
what about a helmet? Will they have any I can rent?
There are definitely Merkur owners that autocross that didn't bring a helmet to Carlisle. The CVCC has a selection of loaner helmets.
I think i've failed 10 cars last season alone. Most of them were able to fix what was wrong and come back to verify.
Yeah, I've seen lots of cars get warnings and verifications, but by "fail" I was basically referring to a car showing up and being sent home. I've never seen that happen.
I rolled up to the auto-x area around 10:00 am; saw three XRs there--Brad's white face transplant-er, Andrew West's red '88 "MERXLER", and Jim Gosses red '87. Andrew ran several passes, and seemed to improve his times. IIRC, his last time was a 26.94 seconds pass, his best of the day, and best of the XRs.
Interestingly, a couple of Focus's had better lap times: One, a blue four door, ran in the 24s--better than a couple of the Mustangs which made loud tire and engine noises but nothing more.
Makes one think it may be time to switch....
YMMV

I was bummed nobody got my awesome spin-out recorded. Two over-steer saves and lost it on the 3rd one and did a 270 - it made Erik's wipe-out last year look like child's play.
I ended up having three flat tires over the weekend, including a complete failure of a Direzza Star Spec that I had on my daily driver that I was going to autocross. It is with tremendous disappointment that I have to report that my car was not able to attend the autocross.
The other flats I experienced was the spare that replaced the Direzza on the daily driver, and the other was on the F350 that I let Anglin borrow.
His car is lightly modded. Tires, brakes (i think), suspension bits. Mostly stock. I can ask what he has done. It's an SVT tho, so it's not a "normal" focus.

It'd be interesting to know. Brad thought one or the Focuses (the other was a two door black one, SVT I think...) was a race car; each looked quite stock from the outside.

Was that you that came up to my car and talked to me about what region I run in and about my tires? Someone did and I am not sure who it was.
BTW, I was the one driving the Sonic Blue SVTF ZX5
Here's a snap of the final results sheet with both laps from each run combined:
