Cracked exhaust manifold... is this normal?

Cracked near #3 cylinder just forward from the turbo mount.

I can see the edge of the allen plug in the picture and know this is an E3 manifold - casting # begining with E3.
These early manifolds are prone to cracking and Ford addressed the issue with a new manifold casting # E6

Ok thank you, I have one off a Thunderbird it must be a E6 it looks different... or maybe time to get a 40BOB 8)

Unless you have a very high level of power modification, the E6 (late) manifold works very well, and has been shown to both flow well and resist cracking. They can also be ported out-- that's what I would recommend, unless you're looking for really big power numbers.

Thanks I'll go with the E6 then, I'm looking for 250-300hp or about as much as the stock turbo can push.
