WTB: XR4TI

Post by a-mil125 »

I am looking for a relatively rust free car. Open to either manual or auto trans. Interested in any color besides red. I'm located in Pittsburgh but can travel for the right car. I will be attending Carlisle this year so any interested party's let me know. Thanks!

There was a nice, low mileage XR posted across the email list that was between Pittsburgh and Carlisle...

It was a few weeks ago - I can't seem to find the message, perhaps someone else saved it and can post the info for you.

"Hello all,
My 1987 Merkur is for sale. You still have time to stop by and pick it up on your way to Carlisle. It is not pristine (not good enough for Gary), but a good car. I must sell it. Silver with darker cladding, gray leather, power windows, manual moon roof, 49K original miles, 5 speed, running, $3800
Email me and I will send you pictures.
Thanks,Ellen Catlin 330-906-2072 cell/text/no vm

That sounds like a fair price for a sorted car. I'm sure someone could spend a grand or two just getting an xr back up to road worthy status after sitting awhile. Which seems to be pretty common in the used Merkur market. Plus it appears this car comes with free help line and 24 hour roadside assistance!

I have an 86, it is a pretty clean car. Definitely a project, it's currently a roller as it was an auto car. I've got engines as well. Located just outside of Detroit.
