project Scorpio available

Post by ljjones »

All MCA listers-

I still have a '89 Scorpio in my barn that would make an easy project car
for somebody. I offered it here last year but had no takers. I'm trying
to move it again 'cause I really need the barn space now. If you want a
Scorpio that could be put back on the road simply by replacing a few wires
and vacuum lines, bring a trailer one mile north of I-40 exit 417. I'm
knocking $1500 off last year's price for the car and large spare/repair
parts package. $1000 takes it all.

Here's the original posting with a link to pictures (delete the quotes):

Hi all,

I would happily buy it if gas round trip was not $500 to come get it...

Sigh.

This was my original posting on the MCA mail-list. I'm having trouble getting that old list to work. Is it still active?

This is not a running Scorpio. It was running great when I parked it in
the barn about 3 years ago. I've just been maintaining the battery and
backing it out each year to clean leaves out of the barn. I noticed last
year that a mouse ate through a vacuum line and wires to the throttle
control valve. When I backed it out that year it ran very rough (as you
would expect with open vacuum and no TCV). This year, the mouse (or his
cousin) has done some more work, eating wires and plastic from the coolant
level sensor, evap canister, and canister purge solenoid. Now the motor
still cranks fine but doesn't start. I haven't troubleshot it, but did
collect replacements for all the visibly damaged parts.

So this is now a project car. Though probably an easy one -- just wires
and hoses. But it will require a trailer. I also have lots of other parts
for the project: a replacement hood pad (the existing one also chewed on by
mouse or squirrel), a new NOS dash pad still in original Ford box and
plastic bag, also a set of LHD lenses for the Euro headlights which
presently have RHD lenses -- lots of other spare parts and odds 'n ends
(some large, some very small - like the plastic odometer gear). I'm
selling the car and all parts as a package deal for $2500.

No rust on this car. Cracked seat leather. Small paint flaw on upper front
left fender. Some clearcoat damage on rear deck.

See if you can get to the photos through this link
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dJb ... sp=sharing>
.

My return email is good for inquiries or post to mca-list.

Your posting came through fine on the MCA-List. One day we might eliminate it, but for now it soldiers on for the old skool types that prefer e-mail communication.

Note, I'm going to move this thread to the Scorpio classifieds section where it belongs.

Thanks Brad.
I've been subscribed to the mail list digest since the early 90's. There has been a dramatic dropoff in messages the lasr few years. I was beginning to wonder if it was just "karma" because of my recent neglect of my dear Scorpio. :-)

I feel like there are people who are on that email list whom aren't on the board or other areas of information.

I-40 runs through 8 states... Where is the car located?
EDIT - I just searched exit 417 and it looks like TN. Unfortunately, too far for me.

Hi all,

I am curious, did this sell? It seems to have ended without any result shown...
