Re: Plenums/velocity stacks: theory and or pictures
Fair enough I have seen these types of log intakes before, they are tried and true. but i do enjoy designing things myself, i am currently creating a 3d autocad drawing of this, but i just decided to throw out a quick one for some reference. edit, i found that thread, it's ray's http://forum.merkurc...

Re: Plenums/velocity stacks: theory and or pictures

Basically i would take some aluminum round pipe some plate, cut it up put it all together with two small velocity stacks on top of a inline 4 ranger style lower intake with a throttlebody screwed on the front. any thoughs on this? http://i106...

I am pretty good at alumin...

Turboing DSP head. Possible project engine for a spare car
Sooo. I decided to make this a separate thread. basically, I want to take a dsp long block from a ranger and rebuild it to turbo spec and either throw it in a parts merkur I can get for cheap, or maybe put it in my dd later(way later) down the road. I want this to be a learning experience as well as...

Re: '85 Cruise
It is definelty possible. I am no expert, but as far as i remember you ned the vacuum actuator, the turn signal/cruise control unit, switch of some sort, and a linkage. Hopefully one of the other guys will chime up. A lot of peopel delete them from thier cars, so you may be lucky and get a whole syst...

Re: obd-2?
* Frankly, judging by your questions, it doesn't seem like you've really researched this yet - I would spend some time reading and gaining a better understanding of all the hardware and software differences. Any sites and or books -no, not e-books, those things with paper pages in them you see...lol...

Re: obd-2?
the only real benefit"" of an obd2 system would be a scanner, and just trying to use as many things from the parts truck if i get one.I thought it would be easier and i thought I had seen a couple turbo rangeers with it, but I guess they just use turbocoupe engines(and ours) and suck it up...

Re: obd-2?
yup, can't wait till i can start kicking around in a dedicated dd, preferably something to haul parts with too :p but back to merkurs. So installing an obd2 system from a ranger wouldn't be worth it? eventually i want to switch over to an 8 plug head and dis from a ranger so i figured i might as wel...

Re: obd-2?
still better than whatever my merk gets on 91 octane my buddy used to get about 45ish but he drove on the highway a lot on his honda acty. apparently the faster you go the more fuel you use on these things, because when we were driving around in the city below 60 ish it semed to be a lot better. :du...
