Re: Irritation - stumble on accel when cold
I don't want to seem like some kind of numbers Nazi, but -12C converts to a little warmer than 10F. There's a huge difference between 10 and -55 degrees F.Fresh Air Inspector wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 6:18 pm NOTE; my issue only happens with a cold engine at ambient temperatures below ~12C (~55F) and last for only a few minutes.

Re: Watching Hot Rod Garage tweek an '87 Turbo T-bird engine...
That episode's been discussed before. Stinger talked about it a little at TurboFord and the bottom line is they didn't have the time that they really needed to work through the build, so there was a lot left on the table.

Re: Exhaust manifold damage
I don't think Bob is making his log header anymore. They turn up used occasionally, and now and then you see someone that's made their own. RE: the cracking factory manifold, I think you're thinking of the E3 and not the E6. I don't recall hearing anything about E6s having cracking issues. XRs came ...

Re: Awesome. A new noise!
The driven gear needs more teeth. A lot more, from the sound of it. I made the assumption that you've kept the stock tire diameter or close to it and punched some numbers into the speedometer gear calculator above. It came back with a 23.7 tooth gear, and since 23 teeth seems to be the highest numbe...

Re: Driveshaft Vibration
That's good news anyway. So many times I see people chasing issues with driveshaft vibrations, unsuccessfully. Although usually it's in connection with a one-piece driveshaft conversion, not the stock unit.
thanks for the follow-up.

Re: Awesome. A new noise!
You can calculate the "closest to correct" number of teeth for the driven speedometer gear with some math.
By what percentage is the current speedometer off?
Does it read high or low?
How many teeth does your current driven gear have?

Re: Scorpio for sale
John,
If you run a web search on the VIN from that ad, it appears that the eBay listing was from 2018. And it was on Bring a Trailer in 2014. Who knows where it's at now, or if it's for sale again?

While Peter's answer is still correct, it's the heater control valve, your picture is of an XR4Ti, not a Scorpio. Scorpios are 4-door hatchbacks with a V-6 engine.

Re: Awesome. A new noise!
FWIW Ed I think you are right... if you look carefully at the manual it appears they reversed the lb ft and nm labels as the numbers don't otherwise compute. I didn't know the true answer, and ultimately it didn't matter... the VW bolts were toast at 25 lb ft, which obviously was not a good place t...

There's no conflict. You're each describing a different end of the half-shaft.
the 38-43 lb-ft value is for the differential end of the half-shaft (page 15-03-5 in my shop manual)
the 28-31 lb-ft value is for the wheel stub shaft end (page 15-70-4)

Also along those lines is Stabilant 22 (concentrate) and Stabilant 22a (pre-mixed). Expensive, but getting rave reviews for at least 35 years. Interestingly, it's only conductive under certain conditions. But generally the ones where you want it to be. https://www.stabilant.com/NoteList.html#appnote...
