Re: 2024 Carlisle Hotel - Penn Harris Hotel, by Wyndham

At this moment, some rooms are still available. They could be gone 10 minutes from now, so grab them now or they could be gone tomorrow.

Re: Thingaverse / Printables Downloads for 3D Printing Plastic Parts

Scorpio instrument panel blank: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6540796 Thanks for following through on this Jerry. I've found the Scorpio cluster to have more potential issues than the XR, so this could be the difference for keeping some more of these cars on the road as time passes. Here's a co...

You left? See you in 10 days. Don't forget the simple 3 step program.... https://www2.merkurclub.net/pages/events I'm not sure about hotel room availability right now. If you can get one at the discounted rate, grab it. Worse case you can always cancel it a couple days prior if needed.

Re: Hoses on either end of Fuel Filter

I would feel much better in eliminating the plastic line totally I agree. There's nothing wrong with using high quality, FI spec, rubber hose, clamped to barbed end-fittings. The hose clamps I use as my "go to" clamps are pulled from Subarus used in that capacity. The hose I use was cut o...

Re: Hoses on either end of Fuel Filter

I think I've got a better handle on the situation now. The problem seems to be that the nylon hose to METAL barb does not seal well over time. All the other applications I've dealt with using the nylon hose have PLASTIC barbed fittings, and those all seem to be just fine, 20, 30, 40 years down the r...

MCA Membership Renewal

Two weeks from now Merkurs at Carlisle 2024 at the Carlisle Ford Nationals kicks off! Are you ready? Many of you have already renewed your membership - thanks for taking care of that. Several of you still have not renewed, but there's still time. Here's the direct link... http://www2.merkurclub.net/...

Re: Hoses on either end of Fuel Filter

I'll tell you what though. These filters are good for a long time. It's a pretty big filter. If you had not changed one for 30K miles I would not worry about it. Agreed. In my case I know that Darren (previous owner) replaced the filter under his ownership so it's probably got less than 20K on it. ...

Re: Hoses on either end of Fuel Filter

But, Brad, please explain: "...how I thought they were being used...". I initially assumed the short hoses were being used like a hose typically is, to contain and carry a liquid. In this case, I assumed it was the link between the nylon hose and the barbed fitting on the banjo bolt. That...

Re: Hoses on either end of Fuel Filter

There was not any heavy corrosion or anything. The filter I pulled off looked to be in very good shape. Keep in mind, the "ugly" pics are from a car that sat on the ground for over 20 years and is more heavily rusted than any Scorpio I've ever seen. I just shared those pics to show what a...

Re: It's Adams FTW.

I wonder if they're really comparing apples-to-apples with those prices? I'm assuming $150 is for the whole kit from Adam's, not just the Graphene. In general, I've found their stuff to be reasonably priced for what it is. Regardless, I've been impressed by Adam's products and now try to use only th...

Re: Hoses on either end of Fuel Filter

Ya but that plastic hose is pressed on hot, then cools down to get a tight seal no clamp needed. Precisely. Ford used this same nylon fuel line across the globe on all sorts of applications and this is the only time I've seen this second short bit of clamped hose over the ends. So here's what I end...

Hoses on either end of Fuel Filter

While under the car the other day I noticed the short little connector hoses near the fuel filter. One had been changed at some point and the other looked original, with those crimped-on hose clamps. I figured both should be swapped out with new. I only got as far as trying to remove the one with th...

Re: 85 XR - Adding air conditioning

The car never had AC unfortunately. I haven't taken possession of the car yet...needs a few things to get it mobile. I'm just looking at future plans! Every Merkur came with A/C. Every single one. Of course it's possible it was removed. I would get the car in-hand first and figure out what you've a...
