Just a reminder - we are half way through the "Merkurs at Carlisle" year.
For now, all you need to do is make your hotel reservation and then get back out to the garage and get working on your car! Six months will FLY by!

Re: The "EEC-IV Chief" His life and legacy
Great info Dean. Very interesting that those added capacitors are now the Achilles heal of these ~35 year-old computers as they leak and fail. Do you recall your Dad discussing the multiple manufacturers which built the EEC-IV PCM's? Something I've found is that the capacitor failure rate is much hi...

Re: The "EEC-IV Chief" His life and legacy
So very sorry for your loss Dean. The trouble with having a Dad who sticks around so long is that we don't ever expect him to leave. Nearly two years out from my Dad's passing, I sorta still expect him to call; I still want to ask him a question about my latest stupid project. If you make it out to ...

Re: Small 3G Alternator High Amp Upgrade Kit
There are 3G alternators which output 130A For sure. I'd say there are more of the 130A 3G's out there than 95A. Plus, the nice thing about the 130A alternators is that there are several vendors providing upgrade kits to go even bigger - 200A is readily available all day, everyday. But for the smal...

Re: Coilover upper seat and mount
Have you tried Rapido, Merkur Depot, and/or Merkur Midwest? I'm pretty sure stock bearings are still available, and if the stock mount is not, after-market is available.

Re: Coilover upper seat and mount
It's not clear what the upper mount is that you're using. Does it use a stock bearing or something else? You need to use whatever the hardware requires you to use.

Re: New Peeps Have Trouble Joining The Forum
For me the site (lately) has seemed to work better than just a few months ago. Of course I'm not trying to join up as a new user. Seems like other forums have been having all sorts of issues. I think it's two different issues. The "Denial of service" issue due to bot attacks we have large...

Small 3G Alternator High Amp Upgrade Kit
Several of us have upgraded to the 3G alternator, with most of us using the Ranger bracket & 95A alternator. But let's say you install a big sound system or electric power steering and 95 amps isn't enough. There are lots of big amp options for the large frame 3G, but not for the small frame. In...

Re: Ford 8.8 IRS LSD Differential Swap Pics
What's the diff/housing from? Are these kit's still available? Or also unobtanium as Supra Diff kits? '93 - '98 Lincoln Mark VIII is the donor of the AL-cased 8.8. The T-Bird SC 8.8 can also be a donor, but it's an iron case. Almost all of the Mark8's have a 3.08 ratio, but I managed to find one of...

Bent rods? Did the engine inhale some water?
New pistons and rods I presume, yes? Oversize pistons?
Looks good - keep the pictures coming!

Re: XR LA2/3 Install. VSS Sensor Question
The '85 speed sensor is unique. '86 through '89 are the same unit. I don't know anything about the '85 - I don't think I've ever seen one, as cruise control was not very common on the early cars. The '89 VSS is absolutely different from the '86 -'88. Electrical output is the same, but physically di...

Re: XR LA2/3 Install. VSS Sensor Question
And now for an incomplete update that really add's nothing but more questions: Here's my Red '88 auto's VSS: Keep in mind, late '88's and all 89's have a different VSS that mounts to the false firewall. I much prefer this setup and use it on my '87 even though I don't use the VSS input at all. It m...

Re: ABS warning light
Did the Rotunda tool come with yout car purchase? No. I'm pretty sure Bart has it. On start up there shouldn't be any clicking from ABS relays. If you hear clicking after the pump has pressurized the accumulator (length of time depends on condition of the accumulator) it likely is from depressing t...
