Brad, thanks for your post on my Dad's obituary page.
Check back there often. A few of his colleagues from Ford had posted some new info. Never knew ignition modules were made in Brazil.
Preparing myself for a few words at the cemetery tomorrow.

Re: The "EEC-IV Chief" His life and legacy
I couldn't say Brad about the variations you discuss. However the bypass capacitors that I mentioned for radio interference were not the leaking electrolytic type. They are smaller ceramic devices that are more or less infinite lifetime. FWIW, I had to deal with a similar radio interference issue wi...

Re: The "EEC-IV Chief" His life and legacy
Thanks all. I thought I would share a few things my father related to me during his time while working with the EEC-IV. The push for the development of the EEC was, naturally, government mandate for reducing emissions. Dad said early on the EEC-IV equipped vehicles that were tested in Smoggy Los Ang...

Re: The "EEC-IV Chief" His life and legacy
Sorry to hear about your dad. I know you and him are very close, sounds like he did a lot of good stuff. Thanks. He is from "that generation" whom shoes I feel none of us can hardly fill. Imagine, he grew up on a farm during the "dust bowl". He told me one year they had nothing ...

The "EEC-IV Chief" His life and legacy
At around 1 pm Friday, the 29th of November, my father, the "EEC-IV Chief" passed away comfortably and surrounded by family. He had suffered from pulmonary fibrosis for many years and had come down with pneumonia and lost the battle in only a few days. You can learn a little more about him...

It seems that low mileage examples can go for descent money these days.

Re: Retro fit 90/130W Headlight bulbs
I did this on another car a while back, 89 Escort GT. New wiring a relay for fog lights, it helped, but running the high watt halogen bulbs, they burned out probably once a month. I once had a 88 Escort GT. It was the car I had before my first Scorpio. I really enjoyed the Escort GT. I actually mis...

The sales history at bring trailer would indicate that $50K is not unheard of.

Re: Restoration of Merkur Scorpio in Russia
What color valve covers would be preferable? Ultimately you paint them the color that you desire. Original valve covers were sort of a silver/titanium. More silver than titanium. With age and heat of the engine they took on a golden hue, which several owners have erroneously assumed was the origina...

"Stewie, Stewie, Stewie..."😆 Relax Ed, a simple and honest mistake. I provide full transparency, UNLIKE your AGM battery discussion, er... should I say deception? But this is all water under the bridge. Besides I enjoyed researching the evolution of ABS technology over the past few days. ...

Re: ABS warning light
As always, I over-react... Drove the car yesterday to get my vaccine shots - Start it up and that dash brake light is blinking again. Wait a sec....It's the dang BRAKE PAD warning light that is blinking when I start the car! I attribute this to cognitive decline due to lack of sleep recently. Those ...

I like the cast aluminum valve covers. Rare items. I don't like them painted blue but that is your personal choice. I hope you inspected cylinder heads for cracks, they have been known to crack if engine overheated. The blower power module can fail. Instructions for DIY repair are in the IMON email ...

Ahh... Here we go. Inlet to Euro airbox is similar to US Scorpio. It's the constriction of part 8 (squashed duct) in the diagram below that is the problem. That is the part that I think could be enlarged and then 3d printed, even enlarging the opening in the airbox as well. . . euroscorpioairbox.jpg

I think the Euro Scorpios had dual vane meters. But the air filter box looks sort of like the US Scorpio's.
