Re: Volvo Fused Power Distribution Box & Refreshing Major 12V Connections
Dug into the harness on the parts car today looking for splice S1004... All you should need to remove is the upper dash to get to it. Now that I might have a little free time, I was going to check this. Brad, did you mean "upper dash" as in the steering column shrouds and the IC, or actua...

Re: Rear coil overs?
Not sure what you're referring to with the adjustable sleeve. I've only seen/used the versions in which the shock body is threaded.

Re: Rear coil overs?
I've run a couple versions, at least for me I've found you may have a tight fit up inside the shock tower, requiring either grinding off some of the top shock eye and/or die-grind some of the internal weld off the inside of the tower. Can't hurt to reinforce the lower shock mount on the STA with a c...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.5 Swap
Which begs the question, how to make these dirty 2.9L more efficient and MPG friendly? Stick to the roads that run downhill. Or, at least the very long downhill grades which give you a chance to coast back up as far as possible up the next hill. :D Sorry Brad, wasn't trying to hijack the thread. Gr...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.5 Swap
I liked the TQ profile of the LS duratec, plus its a no brainer to keep the auto that comes with it... ready made to just swap the whole thing in, no adapter(s) needed to make the trans work other than the DS. As a complete package, it'd probably pass the smog ref with fewer headaches. Tell them how...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.5 Swap
Scorpio's did come with a 5speed though, just not many of them. If it is possible to find build information, or someone who has an originally equipped manual trans Scorpio, maybe that could help whoever needs to recognize... I would think the Ranger, Miata, or 2015+ Ecoboost Mustang could supply do...

Re: Duratec / Mazda L-Series MZR I4 2.5 Swap
Were there any usable RWD Auto transmission combinations that can be used with the Scorpio? DMV requires the same gearing-and-diff combo that came with the original/donor setup. And, though it'd be nice to convert to a manual, I recall some conversation(s) about CA not recognizing that Scorpios came...

Re: Single Stage or Two-Stage Factory Paint?
Thanks Andy. I understand getting what you pay for, esp. these days... IDK if I need a super-durable CC at that kinda' cost, I just don't want to be doing this again in 5 years, which is why I'm still leaning to the SS, not to mention fewer coats needed. What I know for sure is that the old, factory...

Re: Unobtainium Rapido
From what I heard the 19mm could be dangerous in certain situations. Like a quick lane change on the highway. He didn't want people to think bigger was better and pushed for the 16mm. Yeah, I understood what he was worried about, but I was drastically upgrading the whole suspension, and even the RS...

Re: Single Stage or Two-Stage Factory Paint?
Thanks Guys. As mentioned, don't want to waste effort repainting only to find it peeling in a couple years because of the crappy CC repair. So, would you sand off just the CC and get it down to the BC, or take it all the way down to the primer I assuming they shot over the factory black prior to the...

Re: Unobtainium Rapido
I talked with Russ way back when, when at that time I was looking for the larger 19mm ARB. I was waiting on the FMS race suspension parts from the UK, and he was almost adamant that I don't use the 19mm. He said that with the stock suspension, he was getting way too much oversteer out of the rear, a...

Single Stage or Two-Stage Factory Paint?
Starting to do some much needed spot and roof damage body repairs, and debating on paint and maybe a color change. But, I'm confused about the factory black (or any solid) colors on these XR's and whether the solid colors were done in single stage. After some prelim cleaning and polishing, and seein...

Nice! Black paint looks good. What did you go with, brand, single-stage or two-stage (base+clear)?

Re: Strut damper?
Like anti-roll bar PU bushings, doesn't hurt to put a little boat trailer grease (blue) where the bushings contact the strut tower metal. Lasts a lot longer and does a better job that plain old grease. Maybe even where the strut hat sits inside the lower cup. That all twists as the wheels turn, and ...
